The Everything Store – What Makes Amazon Amazon!

There is no doubting the fact that Jeff Bezos has revolutionised retail. When he set out to open Amazon back in 1994 apparently he always had in mind the idea of a store that would sell everything.The area he decided to start with was books and then to expand from there.[/themedy_col][/themedy_columns]
Everything that he has done at Amazon has been done with three core principles:

  • Very strong customer focus
  • Thinking for the long term
  • Pushing for continuous improvement

In the “Everything Store: Jeff Bezos and the Age of Amazon”, Brad Stone gives an impressive expose of what has lead to the phenomenal success of Amazon.

It is worth noting that the book is not authorised and many of the people who worked at Amazon at the time suggest that there are a lot of inaccuracies and indeed that he paints Bezos as a rather humourless and very ruthless capitalist.

None the less this is a fantastic read and we highly recommend it.
